Rev. James F. Kautz has been pastor at Evangel for the past 37 years. This may seem like a long time to be at one location, but Pastor Kautz feels a special call from God to work in this mission field.

    While many are newly enthused about the prospect of inner-city ministry, Pastor Kautz has seen what was once a residential church transform itself into a truly missionary outreach for the heart of the city of Fort Lauderdale.

    As a matter of fact He was born in this city over 60 years ago when things were quite different!

   Coming from a family of Pentecostal pioneers Pastor Kautz received a BA degree from Central Bible College in Springfield Missouri, a college of the Assemblies of God. There he met his wife Esther and they have traveled in evangelistic work, pastored in Vero Beach and now in Fort Lauderdale.

   Pastor Kautz also has received an MBA (Master of Business Administration) degree from Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida.

   Pastor Kautz and Esther have two grown children, Deborah and James Jr. Deborah and her husband Terry Meitz are Sunday School teachers and head the youth ministry at Evangel.

   Deborah is a registered nurse, and Terry is a computer network consultant. James Jr. works as a paramedic in Houston,Texas, where he and his wife Melissa minister in Humble Assembly of God. Terry and Deborah have provided Pastor Kautz and his wife with two grandsons, named Aaron and Luke .
